turnips

We went to the farmers market on Saturday morning and, it being the dead of winter, the selection was pretty much limited to apples and root vegetables. This was, of course, fine by me as I like both apples and root vegetables.

I picked up a couple of turnips — they seemed more interesting than carrots1 and less terrifying than beets.

The turnips became these roasted maple-cardamom turnips, and they were delicious. We had them with hot-sauce-glazed tempeh and steamed kale.


1 In the interest of full disclosure, I should note that we did purchase some rather boring potatoes.
