Wanderlust Wednesday: Luxor Temple

Egypt had long been the top destination on my fantasy travel list, and, in March 2007, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to visit.  As I’ve mentioned, the trip was in conjunction with a class my law school offered called International Team Projects.

Luxor Temple, Egypt, March 2007

The trip was one of the neatest experiences of my life.  The class organized into smaller research groups, and my group researched the illegal antiquities trade, which is a pet interest of mine.  Because we were affiliated with the law school, we were given some incredible opportunities, like going behind-the-scenes at the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities and meeting Zahi Hawass.  Egypt is an amazing country to visit, and I hope to go back some day.

One of my favorite parts of the trip was visiting Luxor Temple, which is a huge complex located in Luxor.  The temple is fairly well preserved and contains some amazing statues and hieroglyphs.  Also of interest is the mosque built on top of the temple.  It took us the better part of a day to make our way through the whole thing.
