Wanderlust Wednesday: Livingston, Guatemala

Doesn’t that water look refreshing?

Livingston, Guatemala, January 2008

During our Guatemala trip in January 2008, we took a boat from Rio Dulce (the city) to Livingston. (Boats are the only way to reach Livingston!) Livingston is located in very eastern Guatemala, where the Rio Dulce (the river) opens onto the Gulf of Honduras. The culture there is different from the land-locked majority of Guatemala: it is much more Caribbean. We spent our time there strolling up and down the beach and drinking fruit shakes – which is not at all a bad way to spend a day.
